Chemistry Innovations to Reduce Byproduct Waste

Chemistry professors Drs. Leanne Chen and William Tam, along with chemistry PhD student Austin Pounder, recently used density functional theory to try and reduce the toxic byproducts that result from creating new materials.

Space - The Origins of Gold

U of G physics professor Dr. Daniel Siegel is a pioneer in multi-messenger astronomy and was invited by Nature Reviews Physics to provide a comprehensive overview of the theories behind the production of heavy elements in multi-messenger events. Physics professors Drs. Liliana Caballero, Alexandros Gezerlis, Eric Poisson and Huan Yang are also advancing research to understand our universe.

Lia Formenti graduated from U of G in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science majoring in physics. She moved on to graduate studies and is now sparking youth curiosity in science with the national outreach group Let's Talk Science.

Akshay Chadha is a PhD Candidate in Computer Science and president of U of G’s Graduate Students’ Association. His PhD research primarily focuses on pathogenicity classification of viruses using its genetic sequences. We chatted with him about his U of G experiences.
