Engineer Applies AI Smarts to Improve Food Price Report

Dr. Graham Taylor and team within the Centre for Advancing Responsible and Ethical AI and School of Engineering are using machine learning to make predictions about next year’s food prices. The team's approach has helped improve the report's accuracy.

Infinite Possibilities with Machine Learning

Dr. Mihai Nica and colleagues presented cutting-edge research on a type of neural network called Residual Neural Networks—ResNets—at the 35th Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems.

Climate Models Help Build Sustainable Cities

Dr. Amir Aliabadi, Associate Professor in the School of Engineering; Dr. Moshen Moradi, former PhD candidate in the School of Engineering; and Dr. Scott Krayenhoff, Assistant Professor in the School of Environmental Sciences, have developed an urban micro-climate model to represent the environmental impact of urban development.

Engineering Student Empowering Women in STEM

Fourth-year engineering student and president of the Guelph Engineering Society, Grace Ly, was part of the organizing committee for this year’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and is a student leader in the School of Engineering.

2021 CEPS Undergraduate Student Awards

The CEPS Dean's Office, the School of Computer Science, and the School of Engineering presented 67 awards virtually to outstanding undergraduate students in Fall 2021 in celebration of their academic achievements, community contributions, and leadership.

Victoria Leaker is a fifth-year Physics student with a strong interest in community: She’s currently Vice-President (Internal) of the Physics and Astronomy Club and working as a Research Assistant with Dr. Eric Poisson. Next year, she’ll begin her master’s degree. We chatted with her about her U of G experiences.
