COVID-19 Update: Oct. 29, 2020

U of G's COVID-19 Updates help keep you informed of the University's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. They provide useful information to help you navigate life at U of G throughout the academic year.

Keeping Halloween safe and spooky

Make sure your Halloween plans for this weekend will keep yourself and your housemates safe.

  • Avoid gathering with people outside of your household - Opt for a movie night at home or at a nearby drive-in, visit local attractions like ghost and haunted walks in Guelph, or see what's happening on the U of G Student Experience Instagram account.

  • Practice safe trick-or-treating - If you're handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, make sure you wear a face covering when answering the door and use tongs to hand out treats. Don't hand out candy if you're feeling even mildly sick. Wash your hands every time after answering the door. Visit the Government of Ontario website for more safe trick-or-treating tips.

  • Download the Government of Canada's COVID Alert app - If you come into contact with someone who has COVID-19, the app can send you an alert.

Stay safe and spooky this Halloween!

Remember: Face coverings are required in U of G buildings

If you come to campus, you must wear a face covering when you are in a U of G building. This includes when studying alone or with others. You can remove your face covering while you are eating or drinking, or while exercising in the Athletics Centre, but you must put it back on immediately afterward. You must also wear a face covering if you are unable to maintain 2 metres of physical distance from others while outdoors.

Learn more about accommodations for face coverings on the Return to Campuses website.
