The University of Guelph is announcing several updates regarding travel restrictions as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
This is an evolving situation so please continue to monitor the University's COVID-19 web page regularly for new information. Changes affecting the University's academic or operational functions will be communicated there and through the University's other web pages and social media channels.
NEW: Self-Monitoring, Self-Isolation for Incoming/Returning International Travellers
People arriving or returning to Canada from any international destinations, whether for business or personal reasons, must self-monitor for symptoms and self-isolate for 14 days, in keeping with the Government of Canada's directive. Monitor for fever, cough and difficulty breathing, and report any symptoms to your health care provider or to Public Health. More information is available on the Government of Canada's web site.
U of G-Sponsored Travel Outside of Canada
As announced earlier this week, all U of G-sponsored travel outside of Canada must be postponed/cancelled until further notice. This applies to faculty, staff, students and researchers. We have made this wider decision to ensure the safety and well-being of our campuses.
Outbound Travel Monitoring
The Government of Canada is advising against all non-essential travel. For those still considering travel, please follow the Government of Canada's guidelines and consider the risk of COVID-19. It is the traveller's responsibility to monitor travel advisories and obtain appropriate authorization, where required, before booking new travel. Check the government's web site to monitor developments including changes to government travel advisories.
