If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms, the Ontario Ministry of Health provides helpful direction through their self-assessment tool. Students who need medical assistance may contact Student Health Services at 519-824-4120, Ext. 52131.

In Guelph, a Cold Flu Care Clinic provides assessments, care and treatment for those with moderate cold, flu and COVID-19 symptoms.

Requirements for individuals with symptoms or a positive test

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have had a positive COVID-19 test (rapid antigen test or PCR test), complete the Ontario COVID-19 self-assessment tool and follow the instructions it provides, particularly as they relate to staying home.

For 10 days after your symptoms begin or from the date of your positive test, you MUST wear a tight-fitting medical-style mask when out in public.

Students

  1. Complete the Ontario COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool and follow the directions provided, particularly as they relate to isolation. Do not come to campus during your isolation period.
  2. Complete a Student Self-Declaration Form.
  3. Notify your instructors of your absence. Students who miss a lecture, lab or assessment due to illness or isolation requirements are not required to provide proof of illness (i.e., medical documentation).

Students living in residence

  1. Whenever you feel sick, whether you think it’s COVID-19 or not, you should self-isolate (stay away from others) and practice self-care (e.g., rest, drink fluids, etc.). If you need to leave your room for any reason (e.g., to use the washroom), you must wear a mask.
  2. Complete the Ontario COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool and follow the directions provided, particularly as they relate to isolation.
  3. Complete a Student Self-Declaration Form. This is an essential step in U of G’s surveillance of COVID-19 on campus.
  4. Have a roommate or friend help get your meals or connect with your Residence Assistant for help.
  5. If you need medical assistance, contact Student Health Services at 519-824-4120, Ext. 52131.
  6. If you are taking in-person courses, notify your instructors. Students who miss a lecture, lab or assessment due to illness or isolation requirements are not required to provide proof of illness (i.e., medical documentation).

Faculty and staff

  3. Notify your manager of your absence.
