GIER's First Annual Symposium

GIER successfully hosted its first Annual Symposium this past June. An all-virtual event, we had a combination of synchronous and asynchronous content celebrating the breadth of environmental research at GIER with mind-mapping, music, cooking, essays, poetry, scientific research updates and more!

Thank you to all our affiliates for attending and supporting our first symposium. Our live events had over 140 registrants, and many international attendees. Curated, asynchronous content will be available on our symposium page until the winter. Feel free to check it out here.

Imagining Climate's Field Trip is Almost Here

      Fill up your water bottle, put on some sunscreen and join us for Field Trip!

We are thrilled to announce the publication of Field Trip from GIER Small Grant Project Imagining Climates. The long awaited Field Trip is a collaboration between Guelph's own Dr. Jesse Popp, OAC Chair of Indigenous Environmental Science and member of Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, and award-winning Anishinaabe-Ojibwe playwrite Yolanda Bonnell. This 30 min audio-walk can be experienced anywhere, and guides listeners to connect with the land around them. Starting Sept 12th, you will be able to listen to Field Trip on our website.               

Restoration Partnership with the Arboretum

As part of GIER’s recognition of environmental research across campus related to the UN's decade on restoration, GIER and the Arboretum are working together to host a panel on ecosystem restoration, with perspectives from international, national, and local ecosystem restoration projects. The event will be hosted by the Guelph Arboretum as part of the 2021 ArbExpo, Sept 11th at 9am EST. Stay tuned for registration information.
