U of G's Set for September emails help you prepare for your classes and experiences this fall. Remote and face-to-face classes begin this week! Here are a few reminders to help make your semester a success.

If you don't need to be on campus, please stay home to help keep our community safe. If you are planning to come to campus, you must visit the Before You Return page of the Return to Campuses website and complete the required training and screening first.

Physical distancing and wearing a face covering

To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, you are required to wear a face covering when you are on campus. Whether you are inside or outside, if you are unable to maintain 2 metres of distance from others, you should wear a face covering.

Learn more about face covering rules and accommodations on our Return to Campuses website.

Limited access to campus buildings

The University is working to make safe on-campus study space available to students. Currently, students who need study space can access the University Centre and the McLaughlin Library, both of which have reduced their capacity to support physical distancing. More information on available study space will be shared soon.

This fall, access to U of G academic buildings and instructional spaces where face-to-face teaching takes place will be restricted. Only students and instructors registered for learning activities in a specific building will be able to access the space. Students enrolled in classes and labs must swipe their U of G student ID cards to enter these spaces. If you are not enrolled in a learning activity in a specific building, you will not be able to access the space.

No charge for parking at the start of the semester

Parking Services is finalizing permit sales and parking lot designations for the fall semester. In the meantime, there is no charge to park on campus. If you plan to park on campus this fall, set up or update your account today.

Until permit sales begin, you can park in any yellow or red lot on campus, as long as you follow standard parking regulations (e.g., park in marked spaces, do not park in tow-away zones, use accessible parking spots only if you have an accessible permit). Black lots are reserved.

For more information, email questions@parking.uoguelph.ca.

Textbook troubles? Try course reserves

Do you have your textbooks yet? If you were running late with your textbook order, or prefer a digital option, the ARES Course Reserve system may be a good solution.

Through ARES, instructors can provide enrolled students with access to course materials like textbook excerpts or articles. Use ARES to look up materials for your courses and see what digital options are available.

U of G is now a cashless campus

Next time you're making a purchase on campus, don't forget to bring your card. To provide an extra layer of safety during the pandemic, cash will no longer be accepted for payments on the Guelph campus. Use your U of G student card to pay with your U of G meal plan or choose debit or credit.

The cash-free environment includes the library, dining outlets, the University Bookstore, parking and all independent commercial stores in the University Centre.
