GIER Webinars

GIER hosted the webinar “COVID-19, the Environment, and You” on June 25. Our panelists, Dr. Madhur Anand —Director of GIER— and Drs. John Fryxell and Robin Roth —affiliate members of GIER— shared their thoughts on the short and long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the environment. We were delighted to have Mike Schreiner, Leader of the Green Party of Ontario, MPP for Guelph join us as moderator! Did you miss our webinar? Fear not! You can now watch it on YouTube.

We are now organizing a second webinar on the climate emergency! Save the date: Thursday, October 15th, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm EDT. You could win admission tickets to see the ALARM - Responding to Our Climate Emergency exhibitions at THEMUSEUM!

GIER to Collaborate with the Conservation Through Reconciliation Partnership

GIER has partnered with the Conservation Through Reconciliation Partnership (CRP) to foster Indigenous research and engagement programs, support to work of affiliate members who collaborate with Indigenous peoples, and advance UofG's reconciliation and decolonization initiatives.

GIER and the CRP are preparing a report on Indigenous research projects conducted across all seven colleges of UofG. The objective of this report is to show how we can weave Indigenous knowledge and Western science to tackle complex sustainability issues.

Do you conduct research with Indigenous peoples? Would you like your research to be highlighted in this report? Please send us an email!
