COVID-19 Updates: Campus accessible for essential operations only On Wednesday, May 6, the Ontario government announced the extension of its public health emergency orders. This extension highlighted the importance of physical distancing in protecting the health and safety of Ontarians during the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to COVID-19 and in alignment with provincial and public health guidelines, the University has prioritized physical distancing and is continuing only essential operations on campus. Under these difficult and challenging circumstances, our decisions are driven by the imperative of maintaining health and safety. We understand that the emergency orders have required many University community members to adjust their work, their studies and their daily routines. However, it is important that we recognize the value of our essential work force and continue to follow the public health guidelines and directives that keep our essential workers safe. If you are not conducting essential work or approved research, please do not come to campus. If extenuating circumstances require faculty or staff to retrieve items from campus, they must seek approval from their department chair or director, not from Campus Community Police. Graduate students must request approval from their department chair through their faculty supervisor. If a request is approved, temporary building access will be provided by the department manager. Once necessary work is completed or items are acquired, please leave campus immediately. Facilities are being maintained to support essential operations only. Thank you all for your continued hard work, both at home and on campus, and for continuing to place the health and safety of our community at the forefront.
