One Health at the University of Guelph

Campus-wide updates are found on the University of Guelph COVID-19 website: news.uoguelph.ca/2019-novel-coronavirus-information/

POSTPONED

The University takes the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously, and is regularly updating guidelines in the community's best interest.

A couple of things to note for One Health activities and initiatives on campus:

  • The guidelines for this summer's OVC Studentships, including the Woolner Studentship, are evolving. We ask for your patience during these transitional and uncertain times. Please know that as soon as there is information to share, we will share it.

  • The One Health monthly lunchtime seminars are currently on hiatus, ahead of our regularly-scheduled summer break (May - August). We hope to resume in September as planned, and look forward to bringing people together around One Health research at the University of Guelph.

Pathway to Increase Standards and Competency of eDNA Surveys (PISCeS) International Conference

The University of Guelph’s Biodiversity Institute of Ontario (BIO), Department of Integrative Biology & College of Biological Sciences are pleased to host a second eDNA conference.

Please note that PISCeS 2020 at the University of Guelph has been postponed due to COVID-19 considerations and associated travel restrictions. A new date will be announced soon.

The 2020 CPHAZ symposium is cancelled. A message from Dr. J. Scott Weese, Director, Centre for Public Health and Zoonoses:

"We expect that social distancing will still be a critical control measure [in May] and as a Centre dedicated to public health, it is our social responsibility to do our small part. It’s a highlight of the Centre’s year but we look forward to our next symposium and have other initiatives under development to further the public health and zoonoses fields."

2020 One Health Antimicrobial Stewardship Conference

One Health, One Future 2020 - POSTPONED

On Monday, March 9th, Dr. Arleigh Reynolds, director of the Center for One Health Research, UAF noted that following conversations with public health officials and the COVID-19 outbreak, the risks associated with holding the One Health, One Future conference at this time are too high - the difficult decision to postpone has been made.

The #WOHC2020 Organising Committee has decided to re-schedule the Congress, and now plans to hold it from 30 October to 3 November 2020 instead, ending most appropriately on the annual One Health Day.
